The rotor for a compressor of a turboreactor has a ring shaped drum with a set of angled slots (6) through it to receive the roots of the blades. It consists of an outer skin (1) and an inner skin (2) with a core (3) between. The outside skin is corrugated, and connecting rings (5) fit into the recesses between the corrugations. A mould has grooves matching the shape of a shaping ring which also has grooves to receive the connecting rings. This is used to shape the outer skin. The shaping ring is made from segments connected together and is made from a mixture of glass fibres 6 to 15 mm long, impregnated by an organic matrix.
