As shown, Fig. 1, tubes 14 connecting thread spinning part 1 and wind-up 2 support ejector 16 and end thread guides A and 17. In bent tubes, guides A, in the form of rings, may be 'spaced along the tubes. Cup-shaped guides 17, Fig. 4, have an aperture 21 and a side port connecting with the aperture. The ports, 23, may have the shape shown in Fig. 5. Separate screens 25, Fig. 7, or continuous screens 26, Fig. 8, may be used to slow down air and thread initially blown through the tubes and ports 23. Thread striking a screen falls onto a tray 28, Fig. 10, from which it is collected, passed from a port 23 to aperture 21, and connected to a winding spool. Guides 17 may be of ceramic material, e.g. porcelain, or the cup body may be of glass or Kapron with a split ring of ceramic material surrounding aperture 21. The trays and screens are preferably air permeable.
