1462528 Automatic control KOMBINAT ZENTRONIK VEB 8 March 1974 [9 March 1973] 10491/74 Heading G3N A discontinuous manufacturing process is controlled by an arrangement incorporating a freely programmable control block in which data relating to the manufacturing process is stored and from which pre-set data is derived for process control is derived on the basis of acquired data. As shown, a manufacturing process is connected to a controller through data terminal positions 6 having, together with input and output modules for a machine for a stage of the process, two card-readers one of which is used to identify the person inserting in the other card-reader a 'command' card. The data terminals are interfaced through input and output modules of a control unit 3, with a control unit 4 in which acquired data is processed in accordance with a programme held in a control block 8. The progress of the controlled process is indicated to a supervisor on a device 9. If for a technical or organisational reason the block 8 is not ready to receive information or a transmission device 5, between unit 4 and block 8 is not available, the control unit 4 can cause a registration of data on a machine-readable data carrier 15. Programme modification can be effected through a data terminal 2 and, in on line operation, complete or partial data can be transmitted to a further processing unit 12.
