1467170 Gripper shuttle looms COMPAGNIE DES BREVETS ET APPLICATIONS INDUSTRIELLES ETABS 5 July 1974 [6 July 1973 25 March 1974] 29909/74 Heading D1E A conventional loom is converted to a gripper shuttle loom by the provision of a double acting gripper shuttle with spring loaded grippers 58, 60 with an opening cam 68 preceeding the gripper in the direction of travel and, at each side of the loom, a weft presenter 30 and gripper opening roller 70 movably mounted and positionably adjustable on the reed cap 34 both cooperating with a cam 36 mounted on the breast beam 38, the arrangement being such that as the shuttle leaves the shed and the sley 10 comes forward the cam 36 leaves the presenter 30 raised and lowers the roller 70 to act on the cam 68 to open the grippers 58, 60 to release the weft end inside the shed and, as the shuttle is picked and the sley moves back, the cam 36 leaves the roller 70 raised but lowers the presenter 30 to position a previously picked weft, extending from the selvedge to the spool 28, in the path of the grippers so that the shuttle engages and severs the weft, tucks in the weft end and lays a new weft which it releases before the far selvedge.
