1471245 Linkwork CHEMETRON CORP 30 May 1975 [30 May 1974] 23577/75 Heading F2K A mechanism, in a bellows forming machine, to convert oscillating motion to movement in a direction transverse to the axis of the oscillating motion comprises a tube 46 which is journalled in a fixed outer tube 30 and is oscillated about said axis, i.e. its own axis by an hydraulic ram unit 12, the tube 46 being provided with coaxial eccentric journals 56, 54 in which a shaft 70 is journalled, the ends of said shaft 70 being provided eccentrically with axially extending pins 80, 78 arranged 180 degrees apart, the pin 80 being journalled in a trunnion 94 slidably supported in a trunnionway 92, arranged transverse to said axis, in a fixed end plate 90, and the other pin 78 being arranged for free movement in a slot 36 which is arranged transverse to said axis and at right angles to said trunnionway 92 in an opposite end plate 34, a bellows forming die roll 16 being journalled on the pin 78. The arrangement is such that as the shaft 70 is oscillated about its axis the pin 80 is transversely displaced in its trunnionway 92 whereby the pin 78, carrying the bellows forming die roll 16 is transversely displaced in the slot 36 to cooperate with exterior rolls 22, 24 to produce each successive circumferential convolution on the elongated tubular wall of a metal blank, which is being formed into a bellows as the blank is rotated about its axis.
