The pipes (8) are drawn into the channel by a self-driven displacement hammer (2) having a push-in connection (6) arranged at its rear end and are pushed up by means of a press (9) anchored in a fixed position. The press (9) consists of a cylinder/piston unit whose cylinder has an inside bore which is slightly larger in diameter than the outside diameter of the pipes (8) so that these pipes (8) are accessible at any time from the location from where they are pulled and pushed into the caved debris (1).
