The chair can be transformed into a single or double bed, depending on chair width. It comprises a base portion (1) supported on legs (7) and the chair back. The seat portion (1a) is separate and is pivoted (3) at the front onto the base and includes the armrests (6). Seat cushions (2) are provided, the back cushions fitting against a pivoted back rest (4, 5). To make the bed, all cushions are removed and the back rest swung over to the outside. The seat portion is swung outwards, the armrests becoming the legs to extend the base. The cushions are then re-arranged to form the mattress.
