In a process for the simultaneous decompsn. or composting of faeces and urine, the faeces and urine are decomposed in parallel but independently of each other at different temps. in the same appts., which comprises a decompsn. chamber at the upper end of which is provided a toilet seat, the decompsn. chamber contg. a faeces-decompsn. bed and a urine-decompsn. bed. The process is intended for the treatment of toilet waste, but it is also applicable to the composting of other waste matls. By effecting separate decompsn. of faeces and urine, the two matls. can be subjected to conditions most suited to their rapid decompsn., and useful compost is produced rapidly using relatively compact equipment.
