1461547 Driving tandem wheels ZETTERBERGS MEK VERKSTAD AB 10 June 1975 [12 June 1974] 24888/75 Heading B7H In a goods vehicle having a tandem axle bogie comprising on each side of the vehicle a rocker beam 4 carrying a leading driven wheel 8 and a trailing non-driven wheel 12, and also having a driving roller 17 which is movable between a raised inoperative position and a lowered position in which it engages between the wheels 8, 12 to transmit drive from the leading wheel 8 to the trailing wheel 12, the driving roller 17 is carried by an arm 22 mounted on the rocker beam 4 for pivotal movement about an axis extending parallel to the rocker beam so that the arm swings between the raised and lowered positions in a plane at right angles to the rocker beam. The driving roller 17 is mounted by bearings 18, 19 on arms 20, 21 depending from the arm 22 which is pivoted on a shaft 23 carried by plates 24, 25 welded to the rocker beam 4. A double-acting hydraulic cylinder 28 is connected between lugs 27, 30 on a cross plate 26 between the plates 24, 25 and on the arm 22 respectively. The driving roller 17 is formed by a plurality of bent rods 31 arranged around a ring 32 and fixed to a hub 33, the inner end 34 of the roller being tapered to facilitate engagement of the roller between the wheels 8, 12.
