The sack is particularly for artificial fertilisers for agriculture and forestry. The filler opening is formed at a folded edge of the sack, which is of double-layer material, and the sides of the folded edge are open for part of the way. The opening can be in the form of a slot, extending from the centre of the folded edge and preferably parallel to the sack sides. The edges, secured together by sewing etc., can form the base and the two sides of the sack, while the folded edge forms the top. After filling, the sack can be joined below the opening so as to form a lifting loop. When the sack is hung up, the slot can be so positioned as to be pulled open for filling.
