1484591 Compositions containing prostaglandins ONO PHARMACEUTICAL CO Ltd 10 April 1975 [11 April 1974] 16242/74 Heading A5B [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] A composition for the production of an oxytocic, abortifacient, post-labour placental expulsion, contraceptive or menstruation-inducing effect in female mammals comprises (1) a PGF 1 compound, a dihydro-PGF 1 compound, a PGF 2 compound or a 13, 14- dihydro-PGF 2 compound characterised, by the presence of an alicyclic ring of the formula:- and by the presence of (a) a trans-double bond between C 13 -C 14 and an ethylene group in C 5 -C 6 , or (b) ethylene groups in C 5 -C 6 and C 13 -C 14 , or (c) a cis-double bond between C 5 -C 6 and a trans-double bond between C 13 -C 14 , or (d) a cis-double bond between C 5 -C 6 and an ethylene group in C 13 -C 14 , in association with (2) a PGE 1 compound, a dihydro-PGE 1 compound, a PGE 2 compound or a 13, 14-dihydro-PGE 2 compound characterised by the presence of an alicyclic ring of the formula:- and by the presence of (a) a trans-double bond between C 13 -C 14 and an ethylene group in C 5 -C 6 or (b) ethylene groups in C 5 -C 6 and C 13 -C 14 , or (c) a cis-double bond between C 5 -C 6 and a trans-double bond between C 13 -C 14 or (d) a cis-double bond between C 5 -C 6 and an ethylene group in C 13 -C 14 .
