The procedure disclosed comprises precipitation of bulk proteins with diamino ethoxy acridine lactate at pH 8, precipitation of the glycoprotein and -globulin with ammonium sulphate, dissolving this precipitate in water, adsorbing it on diethylaminoethyl cellulose, eluting with tris-(oxy methyl)-aminomethane/HCl and precipitating with ammonium sulphate. Other waking-up procedures are mentioned. Physical and chemical data for the pure material (which is claimed per se) is given. It may be used to raise an anti-serum specific to the # 1 -glycoprotein by injection into a mammal and subsequent collection of blood and separation of the antiserum therefrom, this material being useful in testing for pregnancy using conventional immunological techniques.
