The shaft frame is of metal, for mounting in a pavement and extending to the surface. It is adjustable for height on a concrete frame (5) placed on the top of the shaft, and has a flange (1) extending inwards with drilled holes (8) in line with tapped inserts (6) in the concrete frame, accommodating holding-down bolts. Tapped holes (10) can also be provided in the flange for removable height-adjusting screws (11), or alternatively there can be collars on the holding-down bolts below the metal frame flange, by which height adjustment can be made, or nuts can be used for this purpose.
