Mixts. are claimed of low density polyethylene (LDPE) with 1-12%, esp. 5-10% of (a) an ethylene-propylene copolymer with an ethylene content of nearly equals 65-85wt.% and a crystallinity of nearly equals 5-15%, esp. 7-12%, or (b) an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer with an ethylene content of nearly equals 60-80wt. %, a 5-10C non-conjugated diene content of nearly equals 1-6wt. %, esp. 2-6wt. % and a crystallinity of nearly equals 1-10%. The compsn. may also contain 0.5-5wt. % of a finely divided inorganic filler, esp. talc as anti-blocking agent. Addn. of the crystalline polymeric additives to LDPE gives prods. useful for making films, bags, etc., having increased toughness (= tensile strength at break x 10-3 x elongation at break in length units) compared with unmodified LDPE.
