Electron=optical fluid measuring system - uses optical transmission combined with digital circuits to give details of volume, density and mass of fluid

A measuring system to measure the density and volume of a liquid in a tank. The system allows the volume used and changes of density due to impurities to be calculated. The associated circuits are designed to be unaffected by electrical interference. The system includes a specially designed probe and digital electronics to allow the result to be directly displayed. It may be used for aircraft, can calculate the weight of the fluid remaining and detect the introduction of impurities. The probe contains a series of optical glass fibre leads above each other on one side n22) and a separate series of glass fibre leads (24) on the other side but mounted directly opposite. The circuit provides the necessary light to the leads on one side and measures the change in light from the return side due to the different light characteristics above and below the fluid.
