摘要
The method is for decentralised, off-line, entry of input data to a computer by a 'handwriting' technique. An input 'message pad' comprises lines built up of a series of square elements, each consisting of a baseplate carrying a pattern of linear and curved conductors, over which any block-style letter of the alphabet or numeral can be traced using an electronic pen. The movement of the pen generates a series of pulses representing an electrical representation of the letter or figure traced out, which is fed to a buffer memory. The contents of the memory are displayed on a screen, and erase and rewrite controls permit the accuracy of the recorded data to be checked, after which the contents of the memory can be transferred to magnetic tape for transfer to the computer input point.
