The load transfer system is for use with railway track lifting equipment associated with a set of wagons carrying the rails. A base frame is mounted each side of the rails, passing underneath them. On each base frame half is mounted a block with a hinge pin for a telescopic cylinder. This cylinder can be extended vertically to lift the load, and can be swung sideways with the load. Attached to the outside of this cylinder by a pivot pin at the top and to another base block further out from the track, is a smaller cylinder at an angle. When its piston is retracted, it swungs the larger cylinder outwards.
