Thermosetting adhesive formulation - based on thermoplastic synthetic resin with epoxide resin as initial tackifier for shear resistance

The formulation consists of a combination of an adhesive cpd. (I) of thermoplastic synthetic resin and an epoxide resin (II), a liquid (II) being emulsified or dispersed as initial tackifier in an aq. (I) dispersion or (I) soln. in an organic solvent as main adhesive component (whilst a hardener for (II) is added to the formulation before use). This has high initial tack and cures gradually to a tack-free, non-plastic state, which can withstand shear and the action of plasticisers and has improved resistance to water, alkali and heat. Prod. is used for bonding carpets, tiles etc. to floors and walls.
