The painting process is accelerated because it is not necessary to wait until previous coat has dried. These layers area pplied with a conventional spray gun. A high quality surface finish is achieved and this method can be used in painting motor vehicle bodies. No orange peel effect is generated. Paints based on acrylic resin are espec. suitable in the process. The surface of the metal to be coated is cleaned and the metal substrate is dried at a temperature suitable for the composition of the paint and lacquer applied. The paint can be dried by flash off, not only after the application of the last undercoat before applying the first topcoat but also before drying after applying the last topcoat.
