Quick acting road vehicle relay valve - has low capacity control chamber closed up by diaphragm-piston assembly

The arrangement is used for emergency braking operation on road vehicles. The device is electropneumatically operated and its function is to prevent wheel blocking at sudden brake impulses, or to correct pressures on the brake shoes to forestall blocking. By using one single diaphragm to perform the most important function of the operation the action time is extremely short. The diaphragm is actuated by the movements of the disc according to pressures received from teh valve chamber. The disc is fitted with an orifice acting as a nozzle which accelerates venting of the low capacity space under the diaphragm.
