Method and Apparatus for Charging AHydro-pneumatic Reservoir With GasUnder PressureABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREThe invention relates to a method and apparatus forcharging a hydro-pneumatic reservoir with gas under pressure.The reservoir is positioned between two vertically alignedsupporting members, with the oil charging port and gas charg-ing port of the reservoir axially aligned. The supporting mem-ber on which the oil charging port is positioned, is verticallyadjustable. The gas charging port carries an initially loosefitting bushing with an expander member at its outer end, thebushing permitting flow of gas therearound to permit chargingof the reservoir. A force applying member is slidably mountedin the uppermost supporting member such that when gas under pres-sure is applied, it will cause the force applying member to moveupwardly and the gas under pressure will pass around the bushinginto the reservoir to charge the latter. After the reservoir ischarged, oil under pressure is applied to the force applyingmember to move the latter downwardly to react against the expand-er member, forcing the latter into the bushing to expand thelatter and seal the gas port of the reservoir.
