METHOD FOR RECLAIMING STRIP-MINED LANDAbstract of the DisclosureA method for laterally shifting material from anelongated spoil bank down the slopes thereof into elongatedvalleys on opposite sides of the spoil bank by means of appa-ratus which comprises an adjustable side casting blade andmeans for moving the blade. The method comprises the steps ofmoving the apparatus in one direction along one side of the topof the spoil bank with the blade adjusted at a predeterminedblade angle, at a predetermined depth of cut and at a predeter-mined tilt angle, whereby the material is shifted laterallydown one slope of the spoil bank into one of the valleys. Theblade is readjusted to change the blade angle, the depth of cut,and the blade tilt angle. The apparatus is moved in a directionopposite to the said one direction along the opposite side ofthe top of the spoil bank, whereby the material is shiftedlaterally down the other slope of the spoil bank into the otherof the valleys.
