Tube bending machine with rotating bending former - has former mounted on vertical shaft and rotated by chain and chain wheel

A tube bending machine has a vertical shaft (18) one end, carrying a bending former (14) at the top. The bending former consists of a block with a clamp (15) for the tube to be bent. This former incorporates a radiused part about which the tube is wrapped when the former is rotated. A chain wheel (19) lower down the vertical shaft is driven by a chain belt (20) with its ends attached to the piston rods of hydraulic actuators. Tow hydraulic actuators (28, 29) are used for the bending operation and one (47) for returning the bending former to be starting position. The two actuators (28, 29) for the bending operation are mounted in the frame so that they can pivot. The width of the chain belt is reduce in steps (57, 58) to the tie point (45) for the single actuator.
