the composite material is suitable for use as filling for a hollow walling, esp. in a railway vehicle, or other vehicle. Noise-absorbing and heat-insulating, it comprises alternating flat and folded foil sheets, one type but not both being perforated (3). The flat foil sheets (2) run approx. vertically to the plane of the hollow walling. In the folded sheets (1) the apexes of the folds can be set vertically in the hollow walling, or alternately vertically and horizontally. The cross-section of the channels bordered by the folds may be narrowed in places e.g. by quilting.
