Juice from shredded sugar can is extra extracted in a vertical column. The sugar cane is transported upwards by a screw transporter and the extraction liquid flows downwards. The fibrous cane which is compacted during travel is loosened by toothed milling rolls in the column. The extraction liquid has easy access to loosened pulp.
