The main function of the cover is to prevent excessive loss of heat from the water or other liquid stored in a basin to the environmental atmosphere, and maintain a prescribed temp. without waste of energy. It is to be quickly and easily removable or replaceable as requierd, without any complex structure. The cover is composed of a row of adjoining buoyant units, pref. Hollow or lastic-foam-filled elongated shaped-sections, such as tubes, boards or panels of rectangular cross-section, all joined together and raisable or lowerable on the water surface by a hoist device which engages on the connecting carrier structure. This strrcture may comprises crossways beams or traverses, pref. in aluminium box form.
