The heavy duty fender for the ship or landing stage, is made in a single piece rubber or elastic moulding with a cage arrangement of ribs (3) between upper (2) and lower (1) plates. The ribs are prismatic in cross section and are bent inwards near the top plate and parallel to the centre axis near the bottom plate. The bottom plate is further reinforced by a metal insert ring (6). The fender has a high resistance to deformation until the ribs spring inwards, after which a relatively soft resistance is obtained, followed by a heavy resistance in the final phase of bending.
