Pipette filler comprises a hand-operated piston pump, made into a suction pump by a light valve, and having a shut-off valve to disconnect the pump from the socket into which the pipette fits. - The cut-off valve is a valve than can be worked by finger pressure; this is put at one side of the pump cylinder. The valve is pref. a spring-loaded piston with a two-position spring catch. The operator's finger tip closes a channel which, when opened, allows the amt. of liquid in the pipette to be adjusted.
