1354775 Laminate KALLE AG 27 May 1971 [29 May 1970] 17529/71 Heading B5N [Also in Division E1] A laminate having a total thickness of 0À1- 0À5 mm. comprises a polyester base film, e.g. polyethylene terephthalate, having a tensile strength above 2000 kilograms per square centimetre, a melting point above 250‹ C. and a thickness in the range of 20 to 75 microns having on each of its two surfaces a layer of low density polyethylene, the polyethylene layer having a weight in the range of 46 to 180 grams per square metre. The laminate is suitable for use in road construction wherein the laminate 7 is applied over an asphalt binding layer 3 of a road covering and then a top layer of asphalt 8 is applied at a temperature of 160‹ to 240‹ C. and allowed to cool. The laminate 7 prevents the vapour 6 generated from water 5 in the interstices 4 from lifting the freshly applied upper layer 8 or cause the formation of a plurality of small channels in the top layer 8.
