A natural-wave selective (directional) waveguide coupler is used. - It consists of two parallel hollow waveguides coupled together through holes in the common wall, and is arranged such that only one natural wave of the second waveguide is directionally-dependent coupled to the fundamental wave of the first waveguide. In this respect, the first hollow waveguide has a rectangular cross-section and is coupled to a second hollow waveguide having a circular cross-section. - To provide optimum coupling between both useful waves in the system, the wall of the rectangular hollow waveguide lying opposite the coupling side is designed in the form of a membrane, and the flexure or deflection of this wall is adjustable.
