The prolonged action compsn in the form of tablets, dragees, interlockable capsules etc. is prepd. by mixing a water-soluble alginate (e.g. K, Na, Li, Mg, NH4) with the active material and a salt the cations of which form only a slightly soluble alginate (e.g. Ca, Sr, Ba).
