The vessel pressure and temp. control system is esp. for an autoclave containing steam and includes a long cylindrical member (20) with a central axial piston adjustable in position a long the longitudinal axis of the control member. The piston rod is connected to at least two adjustable pistons, one of which is loaded by a helical compression spring. - The tail end of the piston and cylinder system (20) embodies a screwed plug arrangement so that an intermediate control position is available. The pneumatic circuit incorporates a feed line (11) to the autoclave chamber (10) through a pressure control valve (12) regulated by an air pressure topping (13). There is also a throttle (15) in the feed line (141) to the cylinder pressure regulator (17). A third pressure line (21) has two regulator valves (22, 23) to control the pressure balance in the piston and cylinder system.
