The tool automatically inserts closure pieces axially into an electrical machine's semi-closed slots containing windings. The closure pieces are contained in a magazine in the pistol-like device. - A piston slides the top-most closure piece along a guide-way placed against the end of the slot. Near the slot the guideway tapers symmetrically to a width less than that of the slot. The sides of the slot are extended such that these extensions lie over the winding wires projecting from the end of the slot.
