A non-directional slit aerial which is particularly suitable for use in satellites. It consists of a coaxial waveguide where the outer guide has a number of circumferential slits. The outer guide surrounds an inner guide. - The outer guide (2) is made from a dielectric material. It acts as a hollow cylinder which supports the aerial. The inner and outer surfaces of the outer guide are coated with a metallic layer (5, 6) with good electrical conductivity. The conducting layers are divided into sections to form the circumferential slits (3). The edges of the sections are interconnected by pins (7) extending radially through the wall of the hollow cylinder. The diameter is related to the wavelength.
