The multi-purpose childrens furniture unit used as a stacking chair, bench seat, or play table etc. comprises a wide high box-like frame which consists of two side parts and a back wall and a low narrow frame which consists of two side parts, a back wall and a base so that these two frames can be placed on inside the other and joined together to form a seat like unit. The units can be stacked up more securely if the side edge of the wider, taller frame has a protrusion whilst its opposite side has a similarly shaped recess. By arranging the base of the lower frame asymmetrical relative to the ends of the side walls the height of the chair can be altered depending upon which way up the frames are mounted on the ground.
