The flowmeter has a vortex-shedding profiled member with a transverse bore in which alternating fluid flow corresponding to alternating vortex shedding occurs, whereby the alternating flow frequency is a measure of the flow velocity. On its end (9) facing the flow the profiled member (2) has a longitudinal bone (10) leading into the transverse bore (7), so that a small branch flow (11) is introduced continuously into the transverse bore. This branch flow has the effect of a servo-like amplifier on the alternating flow in the transverse bore, thereby increasing the strength of the output signal.
