Water-cooled HV power cable - has external thermal insulation inside jacket cable sheath members

The water-cooled, high voltage power cable consists of a conductor with a closed channel for the coolant. The conductor is surrounded by an insulation and a cable sheath with thermal insulation. The cable sheath consists of an inner and outer tube (5, 7) with the tubular thermal insulation (8) inbetween. Preferably this insulation is formed by a closed tube or by split tubular sections of two half-shells which are connected along their longitudinal edges by a groove and tongue joint. The half-shell tubular sections may be connected at abutting surfaces by groove and tongue joints. The tubular thermal insulation may be applied to the inner wall of the outer tube which may be preferably of steel.
