In mfr. of cylinders or rollers from plastics foam material, esp. open-cell elastic polyurethane, an axial bore is drilled through the roller by burning or melting out. At the same time, the resulting bore is lined by formation of a solid skin upon its walls. Used e.g. in mfr. of conveying, coating or inking rollers as used in copying machines, or for manually used painting rollers. The process is simple and efficient.
