A process for the preparation of a fiber fleece made of regenerated cellulose fibers

The sheet 1 is fed on to the net having a mesh size of 5-30 mesh using a water stream feed apparatus 4, such that the rate of speed of the sheet to that of the net ranges from 1.5 to 50. The treating medium 2 is an aqueous acidic bath 2 maintained at a pH of 4 and a temperature higher than 40‹C. The second treating medium 11 is maintained at a pH of 1 and a temperature greater than 60‹. If a finer mesh net is used a suction box is provided under a portion of the net 5. The sheet 1 may be fed directly into the medium 2 and then folded while in the medium Fig. 7 (not shown). The treated sheet 1 is taken to a take-up roller 12 and scoured and dried. The usual steps of washing with water, bleaching with hydrogen peroxide, neutralizing and washing with water may precede the drying step. The water stream type feeders may comprise a pair of slanting plates 17 and 19 between which the sheet is to be fed, or alternatively may comprise a bar 18 and a slanting plate 19 which may be provided with step-like bars 20.
