The support mechanism for supporting the displaceable panels (14) which make up a curtain comprises two elements (10, 13) wherein one (10) is designed in its upper part (9) so that it can be inserted in a guide (1) which is fitted on the associated support element (6) and can be displaced along the guide. A channel (12) which extends longitudinally through this first element (10) opens out by means of a longitudinal slit (15) provided along the underneath of this first element whilst the second element (13) of the support is designed so that it can fit longitudinally into the channel (12), the maximum cross-sectional dimension of the element (13) being greater than that of the channel (12) so that the element can only rotate partly about its axis. The end section of a panel (14) of a curtain is wound up onto this second roller-type element and is held essentially in a vertical plane by its own weight and the load weight attached to its lower end.
