The mine road support erector is fitted with manipulators and grabs for handling arches undergound. It includes a rectangular plate (1) for the grab, with two longitudinal slots (2) adjoined both sides by strips (3). The jaws are bolted to these strips and have one arm inserted in the slot and out beyond the plate. The second arm projects beyond the strips (3). The jaws are connected by a servomotor and the arms projecting beyond the plate are shaped to suit the arch section (12). Eyelets are preferably hinged to the plate by bolts mounted on the far side of the plate from the respective eyelet, using a sleeve which twists on the bolt to enable the eyelets to be swivelled round by a second fitted bolt.
