Compact sewage treatment plant - combining aeration and final clarification tank and sludge thickener in one basin

A sewage treatment plant for small and medium sized communities has a long basin of trapezoidal section divided by partitions into an activated sludge section, a final clarification section and a sludge thickener/silo. An air lift pump for sludge recycling is suspended from a bridge which travels across the final clarification basin and carries on a cantilever structure the aeration piping for the activated sludge section. This is a compact structure which saves expenses in excavation and piping by its design. The combined aeration and circulation results in reliable function and improved oxygen immission.
