The heavy duty pneumatic tyre fitting and removing rig gradually lifts the tyre from the rim and at the same time ensures that the lifting arms always contact the tyre at the beads. The wheel rim mounting plate carries two co-axial and counter rotatable tensioning plates. The inner plate carries three equally spaced arms able to pivot by pneumatic servos in order to move towards the tyre rim. The outer tensioning plate is turned by an electric motor and chain drive. The tensioning arms are each provided with a lever at their ends. The levers are rigidly joined by an axle tube able to turn inside the tensioning arms. The free ends of the levers carry rollers.
