The mine support system has a set of floor members with height adjustable cylinders on them, positioned behind a scraper chain conveyor at the cutting face. It contains guide and tensioning system for the chain attached to the scraper conveyor. This chain runs alongside the conveyor, between it and the supports, then passes at right angles into the telescopic inner and outer tubes of the guide. A further tube with a curved end is positioned inside the inner tube. The outer tube is fixed, and the inner tube is connected to a cylinder housing a piston attached to the end of the chain. A sensing arm is mounted on another cylinder and piston alongside the chain guide and tension device.
