Adjustable mine support over face conveyor - has U:section floor member to carry twin arm linkage for roof support and to form stops

The adjustable mine support which can be used behind a scraper conveyor, has a roof member which can overhang the conveyor supported by a floor member via a linkage (13, 14) connected to a swinging arm (4), controlled by a piston and cylinder. The floor member is of welded inserted U-section with hinge pins passing through, for the bottoms of the linkage arms (13, 14). The cylinder also is hinged onto this member. The rear part of this U shape is open, and forms a stop for the cross strap (36) on the rear linkage arm (13). This strap and another one above, slopes at an angle to the arm. The rounded base (15) of the other arm (14) is supported by the curved seating faces of a block (17) mounted on the floor member.
