The long slender lighting fitting is used for installation into a suspended ceiling. The ceiling is built up from grid forming profiles which accommodate the ceiling cover plates with holding profiles. The ceiling plates are readily removed in the region of the lighting fitting without additional free space above the ceiling structures. The lighting fitting housing (1) has hooking holding profiles (4). The latter have horizontal flanges (42) on which rest edges of the ceiling plates (3). The longitudinal side walls (14) of the lighting fitting housing have several perforations (16) into which are hooked the matching hooking elements (43) of the holding profile (4).
