The plastics coat hanger has a rounded basically U-shaped section with two arms bent slightly towards each other at their free ends so that the cross-section of the opening is slightly smaller than that of the remaining section. The edges at the free ends of the arms thus curve inwards so that they lie within the outer planes formed by the outer faces of the hanger and cannot come into contact with the garments. Holders which extend down in the plane of the hanger can be provided in order to fix an optional, separately manufactured trouser bar, which has a similar rounded U-section open towards the bottom with the free ends of the two arms bent towards each other.
