The pulsating water jet power unit comprises an externally heated element (1) from which one or more water-filled chambers convergingly extend towards the periphery (3) of a turbine rotor (4). Heating of the water produces intermittent jets which drive the turbine, the water returning to the chambers between each impulse. There may be a bi-furcated chamber with alternatingly opening and closing valves, whereby one branch is the passage for the pressure jets, and the other the return passage for the water, the passages being in opposite directions relative to the turbines periphery.
