摘要
In order to increase the output of a transformer with a heavy current single turn winding of specified voltage only the current can be increased which, on large units, lead to a significant increase in stray losses in the winding metal. To reduce these losses the winding is subdivided radially into parallel connected layers (3). At the terminal end (4) the layers are connected together to form parallel paths. They are transposed in radial position in order to equalise the voltage induced by stray fluxes. The transposition point divides the turn into sectors, their number being equal to the number of parallel paths. The width of the turn is normally equal to the height of the winding. Transposition may be achieved by locally dividing the conductors into a number of strips (5) and passing one conductor through the other, the adjacent strips being insulated from each other.
