Directional antenna for signal transmission in open waveguides - has main radiation direction coinciding with that of open waveguide

Preferably stray current cables are used as open waveguides served by the directional antenna (1, 2). The latter receiving characteristic is of such design as to direct its main radiation in the direction of the main radiation of the opened waveguide. It has zero points or radiation minima for waves undesirable for axial propagation constants. Preferably the antenna consists of one or several pairs of elements, each pair having the above chationed receiving characteristic. The element pair may consists of identical elements, designed as mono- or dipoles. The elements may be formed by opening in an electrically conductive surface according to the Babinet principle.
